STAGE 1 – KAS prelims
KAS prelims is the first stage of KAS exam. So, it is the first stepping stone in reaching your KAS destination. Only after clearing the KAS prelims a candidate is eligible for KAS mains exam. Certainly, KPSC prelims is a screening process for selecting qualified candidates for KAS mains. So, the commission will not count the marks of KPSC prelims for your final ranking. But clearing prelims is essential for your success in KPSC exam.
KAS prelims consist of two papers with 200 marks each.
Prelims papers 1 includes General Studies (National & International importance), Humanities, Geography, Indian Polity, and Economy.
Prelims paper 2 is a combination of General Studies (State importance), Science & Technology, and Mental ability
KPSC conducts the exam in a single day, providing two hours of duration for each KAS prelims papers.
STAGE 2 – KAS Mains
A major part of your KAS ranking depends on KAS mains. Which means KAS mains should be the focal point of your KAS preparation. The commission has divided the KPSC mains stage into qualifying papers and compulsory papers.
KAS Qualifying papers
The KAS qualifying papers include two language papers. In which, the two language papers are English and Kannada. Is Kannada compulsory for KPSC?.
Yes, Kannada is compulsory for KAS exam, the commission will not allow any other language subject selection like IAS.Candidates should score the required minimum marks to qualify. The commission will not consider marks you score in KPSC language paper for KPSC final ranking. As its aim is to check the candidate’s ability to express their thoughts clearly in the regional language
